It doesn’t matter where you are today. What is important is that you draw a line in the sand and say to yourself, “A lukewarm and a non-growing environment is no longer acceptable. I want to mature in Christ and that begins today!”
Where are you? Give yourself an honest answer
• Are you an infant, child, teen or adult in your Christian walk?
• Are you on solid food yet? Or are you still on milk?
• How does one grow up? How can you move from milk to solid food?
Ephesians shows us how. Chapters 1-3 are really teaching the milk…the simple gospel message and who you are in Christ.
In chapters 4-6, Paul is showing the believer (you and I) that if our life looks like an unbeliever, then we cannot possibly be on solid food. He is saying, “Guys, you have to go back and understand Who God is and who you really are so that you can get past your selfish desires.”
Do you know what happens when you know God and when you know your identity in Him? It sets you free! You begin to love God because of who He is, not because of what He can do for you. You begin to love others because God loves them so much He sent His Son so that they could have life (John 3:16-17)!
You change! You begin to get white-hot for God because you go from knowing about Him to knowing Him intimately!
And finally, there is Ephesians 6:10-24. Now this is what a maturing believer, who isn’t just on milk, but on meat, can achieve. They are able to stand firm in life’s battles! They are prepared and victorious!
