Worship is different every time you see it. You make it your own time with God. Worship is a special way for God to talk to you and for you to talk to God.
My special way of worshipping God is through God-led dance. The lyrics of the songs tell me that I am loved by God, and then I begin dancing. When I dance, I might look silly to you, but I do what my God leads me to do. I cannot help it.
You don’t have to worship only through music. You can worship Him in reading the Bible, talking to Him, or even humming the song “Jesus Loves Me.”
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. (Ephesians 3:20–21 NIV)
I am going to go off track a bit and talk about how much God loves you. This is important because the better you understand how much God loves you, the more worship becomes part of who you are. You were designed to worship! You are loved by God. You are His masterpiece. God loves you so much that He died on the cross for your sins. What I want you to do now is write a list of who God is and a list of who God says you are.
For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:10 NIV)
Just remember that GOD LOVES YOU NO MATTER WHAT! You should worship Him even when things get rough.
Read Psalm 95 through Psalm 100.
Make a list of ways to worship as you read these scriptures. Begin to apply them in your life as a response to who God is. He is worthy! Think about how God is seeing and labeling you. Release any condemnation and just receive the truth of God’s grace and love. I bet your heart will explode with worship after this!
God is not interested in where we worship or in our cultural style of worship as long as our worship comes from the love and purity of a spirit that has been reborn in the truth. For example, my friend Amy loves to play worship music or the Bible on CD and worship God as she goes about her daily activities.
